City night – 33*29cm – framed

In Singapore, lights illuminate every corner – from the streets, parks, condos, to HDB housing, making it one of the most secure cities globally. When I first arrived from a small French village in the countryside, the abundance of lights surprised me. In my village, you could gaze at thousands of stars in the night sky.

City Night: After a friend’s dinner, I strolled near Bugis area late at night, heading to catch the MRT from Haji Lane. Waiting at the traffic lights to cross the road, my gaze fixed on the DUO Galleria building, admiring its various forms and octagonal shapes.

The shadows of trees cast by the lights on the bustling streets left a lasting impression, inspiring my artwork titled “City Night.”
